Artist James Stanford created the epic mural “From A Land Beyond Beyond” on behalf of the beautification efforts of the Cultural Corridor Coalition (“CCC”) in Las Vegas. ArtCulture PR was instrumental in facilitating the execution and sponsorship of the project for both Standard and CCC. Artists Nanda Sharifpour and Ali Fathohali executed Stanford’s design on the Reed Whipple building. It took 12 hour days and one month to complete on one side of the historic building.
As with Stanford’s “A Phalanx of Angels Ascending” mural whereby the City of Las Vegas accessioned the artist’s design into their permanent art collection as the City intended to demolish the building to expand Las Vegas Boulevard, the Reed Whipple building became the next intended demolition project for the City’s expansion plans. ArtCulture PR help to facilitate “From A Land Beyond Beyond” film documentary be accessioned into The Neon Museum’s permanent archives. In addition, the City has the right to accession Stanford’s design into their permanent art collections.
It is sad to see both of Stanford’s murals and such historical buildings succumb to road expansion; however, we are grateful to work with forward thinking organizations such as the City of Las Vegas’ Cultural Affairs Department and The Neon Museum to secure the legacy of Stanford’s designs for future generations to enjoy.
